#34 What's new in .NET memory management?

In 2018, Konrad Kokosa published the book Pro .NET Memory Management, covering the details of memory management and the intricacies of the garbage collector.

5 years have passed since then, and as many new versions of .NET were published. A lot has changed: heap segments have been replaced with regions, developers can use uninitialized memory, two new heaps have been introduced, and one of them is not even managed by the GC!

The work on the second edition of the book is in progress, but in the meantime we will present you the most significant changes introduced during those years, explaining their mechanisms and how they can help .NET developers to write more performant applications.
